Product Manager - DefenseOS

Own the product strategy for DefenseOS as Applied adapts its VehicleOS work to unmanned and traditional naval platforms.

What the role actually is

Applied Intuition is hiring a product manager for DefenseOS, a defense operating-system product derived from its commercial VehicleOS work. The first focus is a naval surface-vessel operating system that integrates combat, communications, hull, mechanical, and electrical systems.

This is an IC product role with direct customer discovery, roadmap ownership, and close partnership with engineering, design, and operations.

What you would work on

  • Own the DefenseOS product vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Translate Navy program office, operator, and crew needs into product requirements
  • Shape how a zonal architecture integrates with existing defense systems and legacy interfaces
  • Sequence field readiness, adoption, and product scope with engineering and operations partners
  • Drive product outcomes through influence rather than direct management

What they are asking for

  • Product management experience with complex technical systems
  • Ability to work with defense customers, operators, and engineering teams
  • Strong judgment around requirements, prioritization, and roadmap tradeoffs
  • Comfort with architecture-heavy software products that interface with real hardware systems

Why this one is worth a look

This is a product job at the edge of commercial autonomy software and defense modernization. The caveat is obvious: it is defense work, but for someone interested in unmanned maritime systems, the scope is unusually direct.
