Learning Experience Designer

Design learning systems that prepare vehicle operations teams to safely test, operate, maintain, and support autonomous fleets.

What the role actually is

Applied Intuition is hiring a learning experience designer for its Vehicle Operations team in Sunnyvale. The role translates vehicle operations, technical procedures, safety practices, and engineering knowledge into onboarding, training, certification, and performance support.

This is experience design for operators rather than a traditional product surface. The work is about making complex autonomy operations learnable, measurable, and safe for the people who have to execute them.

What you would work on

  • Design learning programs for onboarding, foundational skills, technical training, and certification
  • Turn operational, safety, and engineering requirements into practical training experiences
  • Build instructor-led, hands-on, scenario-based, simulation, assessment, job-aid, and digital learning materials
  • Use learner feedback, proficiency data, and operational metrics to improve readiness
  • Explore AI-assisted learning tools for scalable practice, coaching, and content development

What they are asking for

  • Learning experience, instructional design, technical training, or learning program experience
  • Strong grounding in adult learning, needs analysis, assessment, and performance-based design
  • Ability to translate complex technical and operational requirements into usable learning paths
  • Experience creating e-learning, documentation, presentations, video, and hands-on training
  • Comfort working with operators, engineers, product teams, safety teams, and subject-matter experts

Why this one is worth a look

Autonomy programs often fail at the operational handoff: people need to know what the system can do, where the limits are, and how to respond under pressure. This role is worth watching because it treats training as part of the robot experience, not as an afterthought.
