User Research

Senior UX Researcher, Fauna

Build the research practice for Fauna's everyday robots, from lab studies and field work to experience metrics.

What the role actually is

Fauna is hiring a senior UX researcher to define how it studies everyday interaction with physical robots. The role owns the research practice around a new product category: recruiting, protocols, lab and field studies, prototype evaluation, and metrics that tell the team whether the robot is becoming more understandable and welcome.

This is a rare robotics research role where the research object is not only task success. It is also comfort, trust, first-run experience, longitudinal use, and the messy reality of robots sharing ordinary human spaces.

What you would work on

  • Decide which product risks and interaction questions need research first
  • Run lab, field, concept, prototype, and longitudinal studies for embodied robot experiences
  • Define experience metrics across first use, task success, satisfaction, and retention signals
  • Turn research findings into decisions with design, product, and engineering

What they are asking for

  • Senior user research experience with full ownership of study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, and reporting
  • Experience with field research, ethnography, lab testing, prototype testing, concept testing, and survey design
  • Quantitative and qualitative research fluency, including behavioral data and statistics
  • Familiarity with human-robot interaction, agentic systems, embodied products, or in-home research

Why this one is worth a look

Fauna is the Amazon-owned robotics team aiming at robots for everyday human environments rather than warehouse automation alone. That makes the research challenge unusually broad: the team has to learn what people will tolerate, trust, enjoy, and come back to when the product has a body in the room.
