What the role actually is

Fauna is hiring an industrial designer in New York to work directly in the robot hardware design process. The role focuses on Class A surfacing, cosmetic finish specs, CMF decisions, and the detailed exterior geometry that has to survive tooling and manufacturing.

This is a design role for someone who wants the physical robot itself to be the interface. The work is less about concept decks and more about making exterior parts feel intentional, manufacturable, and trustworthy at product scale.

What you would work on

• Own production-intent exterior surfacing for injection-molded robot parts
• Translate approved design direction into manufacturable CAD geometry
• Partner with design engineers, hardware teams, and vendors on tooling details
• Support CMF choices and cosmetic finish specifications for robot surfaces

• Industrial design, design innovation, R&D, manufacturing, or related experience
• Ability to manage engineering design projects with CAD-heavy workflows
